Full Car Service in Essex at Your Home or Work

A full service catches wear before it becomes a breakdown. We work through your car at your home or workplace across Essex and East London, following what your manufacturer’s schedule calls for.

What a full service covers and why it matters

A service is planned maintenance: it replaces the parts that wear on a schedule and inspects the parts that wear unpredictably. It normally includes engine oil and filter, plus the air filter, pollen filter and spark plugs or fuel filter when your schedule says they are due.

The inspection side is where a good service earns its keep. Brake wear, tyre condition, fluid levels, lights, wipers, drive belts, hoses, steering and suspension joints all get looked at. A split boot on a joint or a weeping hose is a small job on the driveway and a much bigger problem on the hard shoulder.

Service schedules are set by each manufacturer and vary by model, age and mileage, so we work from yours rather than a one-size list. A service is also not an MOT. It keeps the car healthy, while the MOT only checks that it met the legal standard on the day.

Why have your car serviced at home

Built around your schedule

We go by what your manufacturer lists for your car’s age and mileage.

Wear caught early

Small faults found at a service are usually simpler to fix than the breakdowns they cause.

Your day stays yours

No garage run and no waiting room; the car is worked on where it’s parked.

How a full service works

  1. 01

    Check the schedule

We look at the car’s age, mileage and history to see which items are due at this service.

  2. 02

    Change oil and filters

Oil and oil filter are replaced, along with any air, pollen or fuel filters your schedule calls for.

  3. 03

    Inspect the car

Brakes, tyres, lights, wipers, belts, hoses, fluids, battery, steering and suspension are checked, including tread against the 1.6mm legal minimum.

  4. 04

    Report back

We tell you what was done, what is wearing and what can wait, and reset the service reminder where possible.

When to contact a mechanic

Book when the dash reminder appears or when your service book says the next one is due, whichever you notice first. If you have just bought a used car with patchy history, an early service gives you a known starting point.

Also get in touch if something changes between services, such as a new noise, a warning light or a fluid level dropping. Contact us with your registration and mileage so we can check what your car is due.

If your service light is joined by a red warning light, overheating or a brake or steering problem, don’t wait for the booking; stop driving and call us.

Servicing at home: what works and what doesn’t

A service suits a mobile visit because almost everything is under the bonnet or at the wheels, so it can be done on your drive in Romford, just over the Essex border, or at work in Basildon. To be honest about the limits: without a ramp, inspection underneath is done with the car safely raised, so it is thorough but not the same view. If we spot something that needs one, we will say. All work is subject to the suitability of the job and location.

Common questions

How much does a full car service cost?

The price depends on the engine, how much oil it takes, and which filters, plugs or fluids your schedule lists at this mileage. A small petrol hatchback and a large diesel are very different jobs. Send us your registration and mileage and we will quote for your car.

How often should my car have a full service?

Your manufacturer sets this, usually as a mileage or time limit, whichever comes first, and many cars show it on the dash. Some models have variable schedules based on how they are driven. If you are unsure, tell us your registration and we will look at what yours needs.

Is a service the same as an MOT?

No. An MOT is a legal check of roadworthiness on the day, carried out at a test centre, and it doesn’t change any oil or filters. A service is maintenance that keeps the car running well. Most drivers have both once a year, often at around the same time.
