Mobile Suspension Repairs in Essex
A knock over speed bumps, a car that sits low on one corner or tyres wearing on the edge can all point to suspension wear. We inspect and repair it across Essex and East London.

What your suspension does
Suspension keeps the tyres pressed onto the road and the body of the car steady above them. Springs carry the weight, shock absorbers control the bounce, and arms, bushes, ball joints and drop links hold each wheel in the right place while it moves.
Potholes and speed bumps are hard on all of it. Coil springs can snap near the end coil, often with a loud bang or on a cold morning. Rubber bushes perish and split, and ball joints develop play. The car may still drive, but grip, braking stability and tyre life all suffer.
Worn suspension is a common MOT failure. A fractured spring, a severely leaking shock absorber or excessive play in a joint is a major fault, and a joint likely to become detached is dangerous. A light film of fluid on a shock absorber isn’t a reason for failure, so a damp shock doesn’t automatically need replacing.
Why get suspension checked early
The right noise found
We check each joint for play, so you don’t pay for parts that weren’t the problem.
Tyres last longer
Fixing worn components stops them scrubbing away a tyre’s edge, and helps new tyres go the distance.
A steadier car
Sound suspension helps the car stop straight and stay composed under braking and in corners.
How we repair suspension faults
- 01
Check for play
With the car safely raised we lever and rock each joint, and look over springs, shocks, bushes and rubber boots.
- 02
Pinpoint the part
Noises travel through the body, so we confirm which component is moving before recommending anything.
- 03
Replace the worn part
Parts are fitted and tightened to the correct setting, with springs and shocks usually replaced in axle pairs.
- 04
Road test and advise
We check the noise has gone and tell you if the job has affected alignment, which a tyre specialist can then set.
When to contact a mechanic
A new knock, a sudden lean or a tyre wearing unevenly all deserve a look before your next long run. Suspension noises rarely clear up by themselves, and a part that is merely worn today can damage a tyre or another joint if left.
If you heard a bang from a corner of the car after a pothole, look at the ride height and tyre before moving off. Contact us and tell us when the noise happens.
If the steering suddenly feels loose or heavy, the wheel sits at an odd angle or you lose steering control, stop safely and don’t drive the car again until it has been inspected.
Suspension work away from a garage
Drop links, springs, shocks and many arms can be replaced on a firm, level drive, so a car with a broken spring needn’t be driven further on it. We cover Ilford, East Ham and across Essex. The honest limit is rust: seized bolts and pressed-in bushes can need heat, a press or a ramp, and wheel alignment is a job for a tyre or alignment specialist. All work is subject to the suitability of the job and location.
Common questions
How much does a suspension repair cost?
It depends on which part has failed, the car, and how corroded the fixings are. A drop link is a much smaller job than a set of rear springs or a full arm. We check the car first, then quote for what it actually needs rather than guessing from a noise.
Is it safe to drive with a broken coil spring?
It isn’t a good idea. A snapped spring can let the car sit low, and the broken end can rub on or puncture the tyre. If the tyre is touching anything or the car leans badly, don’t drive it. Contact us and we will look at what can be done where it is.
Do I need a wheel alignment after suspension work?
Often, yes, particularly if a part that locates the wheel has been changed, such as an arm or a track rod end. Springs and shocks may also change the geometry on some cars. We will tell you if yours needs it, and a tyre or alignment specialist can set it.
